Hi,
Forgive me if this has been mentioned on here before, but I was wondering if anybody might be able to offer some advice. I just got home from tour and want to upgrade my home recording rig a little bit. Right now my setup is incredibly simple...just my laptop, mic pre and a couple of mics. I want to get a new audio interface to upgrade to 24-bit. I'm broke, so the USB ones available look pretty nice. But I'm afraid of latency issues and wasn't sure if it might be worth the extra few bucks to get a firewire card for my laptop and one of the cheaper m-audio firewire interfaces. If anyone has used either the M-Audio USB interfaces or the firewire ones and could post their any goods or bads about them, I'd greatly appreciate it.
Also, has anyone used the Audio-Technica AT2020? It's got a full-page ad in the new tape op with some impressive reviews. I have a thick, rough voice (Tom Waits and Nick Cave comparisons come practically daily), and was wondering if it might work alright with what I got.
Take care...
Matt
