Hellooo...

my situation.... presonus firestudio 2626 runs out a firewire 400.... iMac input runs a firewire 800...

any problems if i get an adapter cable?

anyone run into problems because of this?

No problems at all... Firewire was designed to take care of this.

If you hook a FW400 device on a FW800 bus, the system will just run at FW400 speeds (which means you can still stream well over 100 simultaneous audio streams)

My Firewire Issue

Just joined this awesome site to ask this question.

I have a MacBookPro (OSX 10.5.8) running Cubase 5.5, using 2 Presonus Firestudio Projects. I've been using this set up for 3+ years and had been a VERY stable environ. Sure i had to update the presonus drivers & firmware along the way. I kid you not, i came downstairs last week and the presonus didn't sync.

I've updated the Presonus software & firmware. I know, you have to wipe the files out and repair the disk permissions, and restart holding down "OPTION APPLE P R" until it restarts 3 times.

I've updated the Cubase software & the Mac stuff aswell.

Currently when i boot the system the firewire will sync, but the Presonus software doesn't see the machine. Then when i open Cubase the machine loses sync. At anyof these times if i go to the Mac system profiler and click on firewire all the details of the Presonus Firestudio Project pops up.

i'm out of ideas, and just want this working already.

THank you in advance.

Well, that's definitely a driver problem of some sort. Either that or some part of its brain got hosed by the firmware update. I couldn't begin to guess what's going on, though. Are there any system log messages of relevance?
