Firewire question...

If I wanted to get a laptop and record with a MOTU 896 and a firewire harddrive, would I need two firewire ports? Can this be done on a Dell Laptop or do I need to get one of the more expensive Powerbooks? Any help would be much appreciated!

You can daisy-chain Firewire devices just like SCSI. In fact I've read some threads where this is actually recommended with a setup like you describe for best performance.
