Hi Guys, I've done some searching and get the feeling something like the M-audio Audiophile, 410 or Presonus Firebox.

I have a Roland MC-505 which would be good to hook up to the PC via midi (got a lot to learn about midi stuff too), but generally i'll be using a condenser mic and guitar amp.

Based on that and the fact i know very little about PC recording what's going to be a good interface to start with?

Thanks

Are you looking for a specific type of software? Apple or PC user? If you want Pro Tools, the mBox2 is good place to start. If you don't care about software, M-Audio has some decent things, but I personally like the Presonus line of gear. They have great pre-amps for the price, and I haven't had trouble with any thing I have used from that company.

I'm PC based. Software wise i'll probably go with what ever comes in the box, so not actively seeking pro tools or any other. I've used Adobe Audition in passing which seemed intuitive, i don't know how that compares with cubase/pro tools/ableton et al.

I was all set to go for the 410 as that seems to be more widely available when the guy in the store recommended the Focusrite Saffire LE. I'd not looked into this before, but said the pre amps were much better. This is quite new and i've not found many reviews as yet. Has anyone used this or got any feedback?

the focusrite saffire is a brand new product in the markets. focusrite has an excellent reputation for preamps, so i can only compliment their pre quality, but as far the interface goes, i'm not sure. looks nice though.
