Hi, I'm looking for a Well all around audio/midi interface around $400 for a home studio.

I need it to have a good preamp, good Windows drivers, low latency, and be able to work in 24-bit/192kHz.

My candidates are Focusrite Saffire and Edirol FA-66, but I'm open to buy any other interface that fits the bill.

I mostly record my guitar and basses my self and use virtual instruments for everything else.

I also plan to to buy cakewalk sonar in the near future, now I'm using cubase LE.

Thanks.

Save a few more pennies... For just a little bit more ($550) you can get a Motu 8Pre....

(my 828mkII has been rock-solid)

The 8Pre caps out at 96 kHz, and the poster requested 192 kHz.

Of course, why anyone would want to waste CPU power just to be able to record what can best be described as a more accurate reproduction of the WWVB time signal (60 kHz) is beyond me. Really, that's about the only thing of consequence between the 48 kHz cutoff for a 96 kHz recording and the 96 kHz cutoff for a 192 kHz recording.

Maybe the guy's just too lazy to set his computer clock. Dunno. :D

Ok, I'm not an expert, so the 192 kHz thing could be product of my ignorance.

So may be 96 kHz should be ok, but one thing I really need is the interface to be not too big. It will be used both for my desktop setup and my laptop setup, so the size is important, and the 8pre is too big been a full rack unit. Also 8 inputs is too mutch for me, I'm looking for something with 2 or 4 analog imputs.

Thanks for your time so far.
