Firestudio Mobile sync issues fixed yet?

I've got an imac 3.06 GHz Intel Core Duo with 8GB RAM running OS X 10.6.6
It appears that I have a TI 823f firewire chipset....this is good right?
Running Pro Tools 9 with lame old M-Audio card

I'm torn between buying a used Apogee Duet (1st gen) or buying a brand new Presonus Firestudio Mobile. The Presonus has a few more features and I/O so I'm leaning that way but the sync issues people have been having are freaking me out. Any thoughts?

I'd probably go with the Apogee. From what I've heard, they're pretty good about testing their hardware on the Mac, whereas Presonus continued to sell the FireBox for *years* after Apple tightened up their hardware standards in a way that broke non-compliant interfaces like the FireBox when running on bus power....
