I own both a Firepod and a Presonus MP20 Preamp. I would like to run 2 mics into the MP20, and then into the Firepod. When leaving the MP20, should I use the regular XLR outs for each channel, or the bus out XLRs on the MP20 (or does it matter at all)?

Also, concerning preamp gain: does it matter which channel on the Firepod I insert an already gained channel (i.e. from the MP20)? I'm assuming any but channel 1 and 2, correct? Also, is mixing gain (i.e. using some gain from both the MP20 and Firepod for the same channel) worth investigating, or will it likely worsen my sound?

To add, I would be investigating these questions on my own, but my new cables haven't arrived yet. Thanks in advance.

I think you are going to want an xlr to trs cable to go out of the mp20 (xlr) into the line input (1/4" trs) of the firepod.

If you plug into the rear line in jacks, any channel will do. If you plug into the front line inputs, avoid 1 + 2 (hi-Z)

I think combining gain paths will just muck up the sound, but it might sound cool if that's the effect you are after...

hope this helps.
