Is anyone using this configuration? Is it possible?
I am hoping to get one. I've got a PowerBook G4
1GHx with 768 Mb RAM.
Thanks,
fred

Right from the Presonus Website:

"Mac OSX 10.3.5 or higher (Mac OSX Tiger ver 10.4 click here)"

This is required, not just recommended. Here is the other Mac info:

Recommended system requirements:

Power Mac G5 Dual 1.8 Ghz or faster
512 MB RAM or more

Minimum system requirements:

Power Mac G4 800 Mhz or faster
256 MB RAM or more

I found this on Musicians Friend

# OS: Mac OS X within CORE AUDIO - drivers now built into OS X 10.3.5
# Computer: Apple Macintosh series with onboard FireWire port.
# CPU/Clock: PowerPC G4/800MHz or higher (G4/Dual 1 GHz recommended)
# Memory(RAM): 512MB or more

I don't think that you will get the full functionality that the firepod has to offer with your system. It really depends on what you wish to record. The problem with these interfaces and the recording software is that they require a lot of system resources, especially memory. Presonus recommends 512Mb but in my opinion, thats still not enough. When you get into recording the entire band, it can hog resources very quickly. Also, with OSX, the drivers are already in the OS so all you have to do is plug it in.

Send an email to the tech support people at presonus with your system specs. Hopefully you can get the honest low-down without someone trying to make $600 dollars. I did and they seemed pretty honest with me. I haven't had any issues with mine and I run it on an IMAC G5 1.8Ghz with 1Gb of RAM.

Good luck
