I`m seriously considering making my Firepod a 10 channel mic pre instead of 8.
Using the Digital stereo in.
any of the cheap pre`s with digi out that will match the quality of the Firepods pre`s.

With cheap I`m thinking Aphex 207d, Art Dps, Focusrite twintrack , Joe meek ,maybe a different make? :)

I ws interested in going down this path as well & then I thought about possible recording scenarios. I concluded that I wouldn't need to buy an extra mic pre as I could use a SPDIF device normally relegated to a mic pre with the Firepod's SPDIF input. Just about all line level instruments/racks have a SPDIF output now, & with the POD XT, you can even record via USB, so this saves you an extra track. :)

Now, your recording situation might be different, but I just wanted to pass this idea along before you went ahead and spent some moolah unnecessarily.

Thanks,
jawgee
