Ok so i just bought a firepod assuming my new laptop had a firewire port, dont know why i thought it did.

Obviosuly it dosent.

Soooo, I was looking online and from what ive gather an IEEE 1934 PCMCIA card will do the job.

The only thing is i have read so many differnt things i dont know what to do.
A lot of people have said i need a card with a TI chipset. But it is hard to find one that is vista compatible.

So has anybody had this problem and resolved it, or does anybody know of a card that will work.

It is a HP Inspiron Notebook running VISTA.

OHCI FireWire drivers ought to be built into the OS unless Microsoft is inept. One standard driver should be able to drive pretty much every Firewire card out there.

yea but I had read that a lot of generic cards did not work with the FP

Generic cards, maybe. TI-based cards, no. I'd be amazed if it made any difference at all so long as the chipset used was built by TI.

in that case do you or anybody know a card with a ti chipset that is vista compatible or has vista drivers i can download?
