If i'm going to mic a drumset using the Firebox, can I get some XLR to 1/4 inch adapters to hook up 2 mics to the 2 1/4 inch line inputs? Along with the 2 XLR inputs, I will have 4 total mics simultaneously going through the line inputs. So then I can have 4 mics total. Will this work?

i think you will need a preamp for line in 3&4 but other than that, that should work

So I would need to do this,

mic>adapter>preamp>firebox>computer

?

Actually, most preamps have 1/4" outs, so you could probably skip the adapter

No i'm talking about an adapter to hook an XLR mic to a 1/4 inch input on the Firebox

mic>adapter>preamp>firebox>computer

You will be plugging your mikes into the XLR on the preamp, then 1/4" from the preamp to the Firebox (for 3 and 4). No adapter needed.

I think you guys don't understand my question lol. Ok let's try this again..

I want to mic drums using the Firebox. But there is only 2 XLR inputs, so i'm seeing if I can use the two 1/4 inch inputs for two more mics. So then I can have 4 mics total. Is there anyway to get some XLR to 1/4 inch adapters to hook up the mics to the 1/4 inputs?

I think they understand your problem fine. No offense, I dont think you're understanding their explanation.

You need 4 mics....ok?

The First two mics (mics 1 and 2) will go directly to the XLR ins on the front of your Firebox.

HOWEVER, the next 2 mics (mics 3 and 4) can not go directly into the inputs 3 and 4 on your firebox, because those inputs are line level inputs. So you will need a preamp, IN ADDITION to the preamp that is on the front of your firebox. That second preamp will amplify the signals coming from mics 3 and 4. Then, out of the second preamp (something like an maudio DMP-3 or 2 presonus TubePres, you simply run a 1/4 cable to the back of the firebox, into inputs 3 and 4).

Make sense?

Yeah now I know what you're talking about. Would I be better off buying the Firepod? Instead of buying all these extra preamps and stuff.

If you're looking to do alot of tracking of 4 or more mic inputs, yeah, might make sense...if you can foot the extra green for the firepod.

depends entirely on your budget....
