I just got a Presonus Firebox and am using Cubase LE which was supplied with it while orientating myself with its use.

Now, I've had no problem using mics and guitars through the mic-instrument pres on the front of the box.

However, when I try to use the midi at the rear, I can't seem to get a signal. I've configured the midi in to be the Presonus firebox, so does anyone know if there's something else either in the armed midi track, the cubase settings or the presonus control panel I need to change?

do you have the midi input active in the devices/device setup/all midi devices? You should see the midi activity light flicker when u press a key on your controller.

also, what controller are u using?

That's exactly what it was. Thank you.... :)

I'm using some kind of Casio keyboard with midi in outs that's been lying around for a decade or so. It's amazing how much you can do though....

I'll probably purchase a less cumbersome controller though.

Any suggestions?

Novation Remote. Best action I have used for a non weighted controller, awsome programmer, brilliant features. The newer (SL) ones automatically detect which VSTi you have up and assign the controls automatically AND they have drum pads. They come in 25, 37, and 61 key versions

Another heads up: there should be tick box called "use system timestamp" under both midi/direct music and midi/windows midi. If you have timing problems(early or late notes), make sure that its checked under windows midi
