Can someone help me hooking up a external mixer, also use my pc sound card for recorded play back.

External mixer? Why? If you really needed an external mixer, why the hell would you want to use a crappy internal soundcard for playback?

It seems you need to research a bit more about how things work with computer recording. Then you may be able to ask specific questions that have a direct answer. Many of us here are willing to help in giving you advice, but you need to know what direction you are heading first.

Not trying to be condescending, just honest. :)

Thanks, your absolutely right. Im new at recording & i dont know what im doing. Thats why im here. Sorry your wasting your time answering my questions. No need for further discission here jimmy, I got it.

Naw man, yer cool xenyx. Not wasting my time. Questions like yours are what I am here for. I am just suggesting that you do some research so that you know what it is you are asking. Trust me, I will help you any way I can. Just need you to know what it is you want/plan before I can help. :)

Xenyx, your firebox is your new sound card. YOu will not be using the computers sound-card anymore.
As for hooking up to an external mixer, there are a few ways, depending on the goal. The general reasons people use an external mixer with an interface is for additional inputs/outputs and routing capabilities, or for using the mic pres on the board in conjunction with the mic pres on the interface. Also you may want analog EQ in the recording chain or an external compressor or effect inserted in the channel during recording or playback. I have used this type of setup for a long time, even with higher end interfaces such as my RME. I currently use a Mackie ONYX as my interface/mixer and I appreciate the options it provides me.

If those idea makes sense to you or interest you then an external mixer is a good idea to use with your firebox (your new sound-card).
My feeling is that you can start with just your firebox and get a feel for what you need.

Good luck,

Much respect and blessings

Thanks bonafide, thats the answer i needed. Much respect, xenyx
