I am about to wrap up this mix and the customer is pleased, but I wanted to see if I could get some feedback from the forum.

Take a listen

Thoughts, criticisms, complaints, etc?

Thanks in advance.

I could go for hearing the bass guitar out a bit more forward- not necessarily more low end- not really a comment to the tone of it.., along with a bit less comp on the guitar fills. That would let them pop out and accompany the voc out front. Less ratio..? Open up their attack some?

mixsit, thanks for the input. I will give those suggestions a try when I get back to the mix.

I agree, the bass is almost non existent on my system. My sub is barely doing anything.

The guitars also sound a bit thin to me, but I'm kind of a metal guy. So anything I say is probably irrelevant anyway. :)

Guys, thanks for the input. I finally had a chance to get back to the mixes, and here's an updated version. I tried to take your suggestions and run with them.

Let me know what you think.

Thanks again.

Plenty of bass in the mix now. Has a live, kinda Americana overall feel to it. Interesting mix on the lead guitar - it sounds far away but that works because it's not wlaking on the vocals. Was it room mic'd?

Much better! Now the song actually grooves. The vocals seem a bit 'out front' for my tastes tho. But I'm a drummer. lol

Thanks for taking another listen guys. :D

@ido1957 - I did use a room mic on the guitar amp, but it wasn't that far away. I blended it with the signal from the SM57 that was right on the cab.

Also, I have another song in this project that I went back and checked and it was suffering from the same lack of bass that this one was suffering from. I can link that one as well if you're interested.
