Hey everybody, I'm in the process of building a vocal booth for my home studio, and i have a question. I want to make it Where i can disassemble it in case i move, but still be able to put it back up and use it. I pretty much know how to frame the walls, but i just need to know what I need to make this booth portable. BTW the booth is 5 by 6 by 8. thank you in advance.

nobody knows how to accomplish what i'm trying to do.????????

Make it modular. Use MDF and seals instead of Drywall and caulk. Use screws. :)

The hardest thing is planning loose joints. Here are a plan and a detail of one I am working on. The most difficult is planning loose joints for TWO leaf walls that do NOT touch. I have all the plans, but am not finished with the HVAC/ventilation, which is absolutely required for airtight booths. Keeping a door as a TWO leaf structure while maintaining a decoupled leaf is also difficult. Here is my answer to this delima. I found a special seal for using on one leaf of the door. Good luck.

Here is the door jamb/frame(two leaf) detail. This is like a refrigerator door, with a decoupled leaf, and twin perimeter seals. One for each leaf. I haven't worked out the electric latch/safety release yet.

Loose joints and modules are the key. I didn't show them cause there are 12 sheets to this design, and it is beyond the scope of the forum to show in one reply..sorry. But figure these modules, and how you will fasten/erect/disassemble them. These are a few of the areas of concern.
Iso Floor
3 walls/single or double?
1 wall w/ jamb
ceiling/roof
Door
HVAC/ventilation
Electrical
Signal hardware
Lighting
Seals
Treatment
Fit all this together for KNOCK DOWN, and you will see it is NO easy task.
