My gear follows:

Behringer Eurorack 1832FX-Pro Mixer
M-Audio Delta 1010LT Sound Card
Edirol Monitors
and some mics, etc.

I have everything set up on my desk, but I've been trying for the past few hours to properly connect everything. I'm to the point where I can get Cool Edit (the program I use) to recognize the signal from the mixer (ie: I can record..I recorded a minute's worth of "check, check, check" into Cool Edit Pro.) but no matter what I try I can't get the monitors to play back that recording. Could someone with some experience please direct me as to what I should be plugging into where?

I will answer any specific questions if needed, just please help me set this stuff up!

Thanks

-Ben

alright well if anyone wants to help..i've widdled the problem down to one thing.

rather than running my sound card outputs to the mixer, and then back again to the monitor, i'm using my sound blaster audigy (my other sound card) as the output and running that directly into the monitors. the monitors work beautifully when i try to play a song from my mp3 collection, but when i record and attempt to play back, only the left monitor works. i even tried panning the recording hard right and still nothing came out of the right monitor. please help me resolve this issue and i'll leave you alone.

It sounds like an improper software setting. Open CEP and make sure that your "Device Properties" and "Device Order" settings are correct. If those settings are correct then check your Delta Control Panel.
You should run direct outs or the AUX send from the mixer to the soundcard input. Then run the soundcard outs to one of the stereo channels of the mixer. Then run your main outs to the monitor speakers.

If you want a really simple way to do it, just run the first 2 of the delta's outputs straight into your monitors.

In the Delta Control panel, PatchBay/Router tab, select Monitor Mixer under H/W Out 1/2, then in the Monitor Mixer tab, adjust the WavOut 1/2 levels to suit

okay, thanks for your help so far.

what's wrong now is that i can only seem to get one input of the sound card (the 5/6 out or whatever) to recognize sound, and even then it's only on the left channel.

im trying to make it so i can record one track for each instrument, but the mixer seems to want to mix it down into one stereo track in the main-out, forever crushing my eternal desire to record seperate drum tracks (snare, tom, kick, etc).

so what exactly can i do to solve the problem of only one mic track being recognized. is something plugged in wrong? please explain what the big mess of wires is sticking out of the m-audio soundcard. am i supposed to match up pairing wires? how do i know if they do match up?

sdlkfjsdfjh please help this is so frustrating.

Those wires coming out of the soundcard are the inputs and outputs of the sound card. They shouldn't be connected to eachother.

Just fine out from the manual which ones are inputs and which are the outs. Connect pre-amps and stuff to the inputs and the outputs can go to powered speakers or recording devices or mixers or anything you want!

If you want to record seperate tracks you need to route each track (1/2, 3/4, 5/6, 7/8) into seperate recording channels in your recording software!

You also need to specify which OUTPUTS you want the recording software to play back the recording sound to!

Also if you want ALL your channels to come out as a stereo to OUTS 1 and 2, you need to go into the Delta 1010s Config Panel and select the H/W Out 1/2 to MONITOR MIXER.

I hope this helps.

alright heres what im doing:

i'm running from my audigy into the Tape In of my mixer

i'm running from the Main Outs of my mixer into my sound card

and i'm running two RCA cables from the Tape Outs of my mixer into the RCA inputs of my monitors, but the problem is, the monitors don't replay the sound. is there a special button on my mixer i should press in order to get it to send the sound into my monitors?

pleaase help, i'm almost there!

thanks for your help so far

Maybe you should try plugging your monitors to the outs of your sound card or even the delta 1010.
