Finally got a 1/2 decent mix out

I was wanting to get some feedback on a song I finally got out the door. It is called 'Del Mar Fair'. I currently only have it located at www.mp3.com/blue_skies_ahead but hope to have it hosted soon.
Don't worry about listening to the other songs, they are some of our first self recordings and it is extrememly obvious. I was just wanting feedback from Del Mar.

I think the vocal might be a little hot. Maybe it is just my monitors. I like the backing vocals. Nice voice.

Very cool song. I agree that the vocal is too hot. Maybe a bit boomy aswell.

As stated above, vox are a little too hot. You also might want to go in with an editor and see if you can sync the lead and BU vox in the places where they get a little separated. The harmonies are good too.

I like the song. But I REALLY wanted it to explode into a punky, raucous song, with a full complement of drums, bass, and electric guitar about 1/3 to 1/2 way in. :eek:

Queue, you are correct with the punk vibe. That was the initial intention, accoustic into into full blown punk/pop type sound. But after 3 days of working on a full punk assortment for it, it just wasn't comming together as planned. So we decided to do the accoustic intro and thought it sounded pretty cool, so we took 20 minutes and cut the whole thing accoustic for fun. It turned out decent, so I mixed it and put it out there to try to get some feedback.

The punkish version is currently still getting mixed down when i feel like torturing myself. In its current state it sound like a mix between 80's dance and 90's punk pop. I think we might redo it all.
