Finally getting a usable tom sound (drum tracking)

I been on a personal quest to improve the sound of my toms. I want that deep rich low-end like I hear on the radio, as well as good attack. I don't know if I've got it yet, but getting closer.

No, you don't understand. This was just a test for the toms. I didn't pan anything. I only spent 30 seconds setting levels. I threw a quickie verb on the snare. Hell, I even forgot to EQ the kick.

As they say on TV...
This is a test. This only a test. Had this been an actual song, you would have heard some really cool shit.

It's a basic five piece kit so I used four on drums and one overhead.

Kick - Audiopile 454 kick mic (No longer sold) in through the hole about center of drum.
Snare - Sennheiser e906 (with bright switch on) About 6-8 inches above rim.
Toms - Gear One MK1000
Floor - Shure SM27
Overhead - Oktava MK-012 (Modded by Michael Joly) 6 or 8 inches above drummer's right shoulder, aimed at the toms.

I also ran the OH track through an Aphex Exciter. That really made a huge difference in the low end. Cymbals are all coming from mic bleed.
