I own a AW4416
and I attempt to do my own mastering,
Should I look into Finalizers
and if so why and which ones?
or can I achieve the same results with the AW4416?
Thanks everyone

I have a TCE Finalizer and use it primarily as a noise reduction processor. It does have some multi-band compression which is useful for mixdowns. It is not a diy-automastering-magic box.

You might want to go to the TC Electronics site and see if you can download the manual. It will let you compare the Finalizer to possible software substitutes like Wavelab.

Id skip those and get the WAVES add-on card designed for the Yam 4416, its a full up mastering suite that costs nearly 900 bucks, but its the cleanest way out of the 4416, it dithers down to 16 bit with all the multiband compression, limiting, de-essing..you name it its got it. Check it out at least, I don't think you can go wrong with it.

Peace,
Dennis

the reviewer from recording, said a few monthes ago that the behringer ultradyne pro was his favorite finalizer. at 350.00 each they make a good arguement. the ultramizetr pro is good too at 89.00.

Behringer DSP9024......oh my dear God, did Bonesy just give props to a Behringer product!? :)

This is NOT better than good PC mastering software, but if you don't record with a PC, I'd recommend this unit every day of the week and twice on Sunday.

6 band independant compression, global compression, VERY detailed parameter settings, and if you're a moron who wants to use it (wink, wink!) it has an "exciter"...whatever the hell THAT is! :D

AMS $180.00
