final piece for setup help please.

wassup everybody

i've basicly figured what i'm going to buy for my setup and only need help for the last thing. i getting a computer just for music, and now i need to get a sound card. i'm recording rap and r&b and want very good sound quality cd/radio play quality. I need to hook up a akai mpc 1000 or 2xl and a keyboard to my computer to record the beats into the software pro tools or cubase. and also i need to hook up a mic pre and moniters.
can someone please suggest an excellent sound card. thanx in advance
 
how many inputs do you want on the sound card. ???
or will a good quality stereo soundcard do the job.
by the way if your open on multitrack software you can save lots of money and still do what you want to do.
do you want to record midi as well as audio tracks ?

i need midi and audio because i want to record my mpc and keyboard in to software. and then the mic pre and mic to lay vocals over.
 
do you need detailed midi notation,printing and editing .??
be aware to really understand midi takes a learning curve.
the package i use is very extensive for its midi capabilities but i'm afraid
you must spend time to fully understand it as its very deep.
also list your computer specs. and as i said how many inputs in the sound card ?
