Hey all,

I posted early mixes of a few songs on here for feedback, and I just wanted to share the final tracks with anyone who is interested. You can check them out on my MySpace page:

"Fighting With Myself" and "Anne, Anne" were the ones I posted here before. Thanks for all the comments and suggestions!

"Fighting With Myself"

Good song, well written...

Love the bass - is that an acoustic bass?

The acoustic guitar sounds pretty good too, nicely panned

That steel is so cool - man we don't get enough of this flavor here - nice....

Good vocals - suit the style very well....like a Ricky Skaggs vibe....

It's all good by me....

Cool Peter.....

Wow...this is really well done. I don't have much to add...just wanted to let you know I was immensely impressed by this recording and loved the fact that it sounds super tight, yet almost live.

Thanks both of you, I'm glad you approve!

The bass in both songs is acoustic/upright. It felt like a better fit for both tracks than using an electric (though I did use electric for a few other songs on the album). On Fighting With Myself there are two guitar tracks, one panned to each side. The same thing is happening in Anne, Anne, except there is both guitar and Mandolin instead of two guitars.

I agree with you on the steel. I think it really makes the song (as well as the other song I used steel on). It came out better than I had imagined.

Thanks again!

ps - let me know if you have any thoughts on the other new track, Bear & Raccoon.

Nice Mix. I like it. Though I noticed the vocals are heavily clipped on some places, thus noticable distorted. That should be fixed, preferable by doing the mastering slightly softer. I wouldn't change anything else.

Like those songs man, pretty tight. The kind of stuff im into as well. Have you any plans to play in Ireland?

I'm going to be on tour in and around London in a few weeks, but no plans to come to Ireland...

want to set a show up for me?

:D

pedal steel is soooo cool. I've been lucky enough to get a couple of guys online to send me steel tracks in the past; such a great ambient instrument...heavy and hard to play.

Yeah, I noticed a couple of spots where the mix kinda' "fritzed" on this end; sounds like a straight digital clip somewhere. Most noticeably right before the steel solo on Fighting With Myself.

You sing really high, but not overly strained. A couple of pretty minor pitch issues, but nothing that really distracts from the tune.
