Suck 'em and see!
It's been sold, paid for and taken away. I'm downsizing to a soundtracs Topaz project 8. These are the last two songs recorded and mixed on it, back ground noise is evident but these two recordings will always remind me of it.

I'd like some genuine feedback on the sound please. Both songs are acoustic guitar & vocal

Aproaching Three

The Fearsome

Enjoy and let me know what you think. Vocals & guitar were recorded with a studio projects B1 into an M-Audio Tampa mic pre on to PC running Adobe Audition via an M-Audio Delta 1010, mixed back through the Allen & Heath Saber using Wharfedale 8.2A's for monitoring...in a bedroom ;)

Thanks in advance for taking the time to listen,

Alec

Vox are awesome. Great Voice!

IMO I think the guitars could sound a little better. Sounds like a mic issue to me. How did you have it miced?

just a B1 pointed at the 12th fret about 12 inches back

what guitar and strings are you using in these tunes? sounds pretty good to me. nice vocals.

the guitar was a very old claped out Ovation, dressed up with a new set of Elixir strings

Sounds good to me, nice and ambient. Maybe a little less reverb on the vocals, but thats just me.

I like Approaching Three more than The Fearsome. The only problem with it seems to be the backround vocals seem muddy probably from squashing and mixing in a double guitar track. The Fearsome has some low level rumbling from the guitar and the vocals clip or screech throughout sounding almost like a fried tweeter.

Talking about the first song;
A tad too much reverb all over in my opinion. Sounds nice though. Would prefer the guitar to have more body and less twang. Might be best no to use brand new strings, maybe put the new strings on a week or two before recording and make sure the guitar is played quite alot in that time.
Doesnt sound totally balanced from left to right though.
Good stuff.

nice tune, nice vocals, and good guitar sound.

Listened to 'Approaching Three'
Vox and Guit sound very good. Nice song.

I am somewhat of a Reverb-basher, but I think it should be used here for sure--just a tad less maybe. Also I might put the guitar a little more closer to the center.

Well done!

thanks all for the comments. I'll probably remix both tunes when I get the Topaz all plumbed in this weekendand do an A/B test
