I have the need to make an audio file of the type .voi
This is so I can place on-hold messages on our company phone system. I could record directly into the phone system, but wanted to make a higher quality recording using n-track.
Have you heard of that file type? Does the program support such conversion? Thanks!

n-Track really doesn't do any file conversion of this type. I'm going to move this post down into the Computer Recording forum where you'll have better luck finding someone who can help you. Good luck!

Can't find a file extension .voi in either CoolEdit 2000 or Sound Forge 5. But there is a format with the extension .vox. Here's part of its description from the CoolEdit help system:

"The Dialogic ADPCM format is commonly found in telephony applications, and has been optimized for low sample rate voice. It will only save mono 16-bit audio..."

Sure you mean voi and not vox?

Try opening the file as a raw data file... try something like 8-bit/22khz. I did some work for my Father's company... recording a message for their PABX.. the company that sold the PABX told him about the sample rate... I worked out the rest and saved them a few hundred dollars of studio time. Try asking the company what the sample & bit rate are and go from there...

Yes. the file extension is .voi I did find a voi recorder by searching google, but it bombed. I will do a little more direct research with the phone system vendor. Like I said, I can just directly record a message, but it would be so much more of a quality product if I were able to make a nice home recording with background music in the proper file format. Appreciate all help with this!

Well.... uhhhhh. No. I guess I don't exactly understand how to do that. I will do a little reading to find out. Thanks for the suggestion.
