Few questions

So I have
3.2ghz
160hd
1 gig ram
Sonar 2.2XL
Fruityloops Studio
Delta 1010lt


I am looking into midi controllers now. Let me see if I got this right. Say I bought an M-audio Evolution. I would hook it into any of of the 6 usb ports my computer comes with? Now if thats right I should be able 2 control VST synths, and Dxi Dynths Right? What do I control it through SONAR? Fruityloops? For some reason it seems like FruityLoops sequencer offers more control then Sonars?

microkorg makes a good midi controller, and not only that it comes with great presets (unbelievable, i know), a vocoder and very very easy and extensive programmable arpeggio. and you can't beat the price, only $350 for a new one and i've seen them around here for 260 used in local music shops. definately worth checking out in my opinion!

if you want great midi control, you'll probably need a sequencer in the long run. floops and similar are only slightly more than beatboxes compared to something like cubase vst...
an evolution controller should enable you to do alot of tweaking, but you'd want to record your tweaking properly in layers, cause you only have two hands you know and the evolution is most effective working on only one channel (although the knobs can be assigned to specific channels, but it's a bitch working like that...)
you'd still be able to use the vst instruments, and samplers and shit using cubase or logic, and you get superior overview and control of your arrangement...
