Few Questions on how to do Something for Cakewalk....

I use Cakewalk Pro Audio 8...

1. how do i make cakewalk have to different tempos in one loop? ex...i have a 16 bar beat the first 8 bars i want it to be 90bpm 2nd set of 8bars i wnat it to be 92bpms

2. HOw do i make cakewalk always able to drag drop w/o it always lining it up wit the bars?
ex. i want to move the bar to 2:02:000 so i drag it wit my mouse but it will only allow me to go on 2:01:000 or 3:01:000 or 1::01:000 etc.. I know i can do event properties but its easier to drag it.....

I use Cakewalk Pro 9 (in fact, I upgraded from version 6, so I never saw 8 at all), so excuse me if the specifics are a little off.

To change the tempo, you need to insert a tempo change at the right spot. Put your cursor on the beginning of bar 1, go to the Insert menu and select Tempo Change. Set the temp through the dialog box (should be self-explanatory) and click OK. Go to the beginning of bar 8 and do it again. If you are going to cut and paste this material, makes sure you select to copy Tempo changes along with the events in the track.

The "lining up with the bars" thing is called snapping to a grid. This grid can be defined to be whole notes, half notes, quarter notes, whatever... or can be turned off. The button looks like a little -- well, like a little grid. It's a toggle, so if it's on and you click it, it goes off, and vice versa. You can also press CTRL+ALT+N to the same effect. To change its settings, right click the grid button or press CTRL+ALT+SHIFT+N, and it opens the Snap to Grid dialog box.

If these are arranged a little differently, try the Help system and look for temp change and snap to grid.

thanks a BUNCH!!...i have one more question i have an ASR-X....and each time i stop playing the volume settings and the pan settings will reset to default how do I stop that?
 
I don't do this as I have no outboard gear... but I have seen sequences that have MIDI System Exclusive (SysEx) messages being sent when you open them, so that's probably how you do it. You need to know the MIDI commands that the ASR will understand to mean set the volume and pan settings to what you want rather than the default. Look in the help system for how to send the messages from Cakewalk and in the ASR manual to find out the content of the messages you ned to send.
 
For the tempo you can also go to Tempo View and draw the tempo change, that way you can gradually move to the new tempo

yo ALCHUCK i can send the volume and pan settings to the ASR its just when i stop and start the loop again i have to re sett the volume and pan settings on the cakewalk...because on the ASR it went back to default
