hi guys ! have a few more questions . .

I finally got my roominator project 2 kit and started placing them . . so far things sound good . . . now i want to build a cloud panel for the celing above the console. . .

1) the size of the frame will be about 4'x3' . can i use the roxul insulation which is about 3" thick inside the frame and cover it with fabric or I need ??? . .

2) if so can i use any fabric to cover it up (like from wal-mart or zellers etc) or I have to get some certain type of fabric . .

3) now when mounting this onto the celing, is it better to hang it from the celing with chains so that there is a gap between the celing and the panel or just bolt the whole frame onto the celing with no space in between . . which one is better to do . .

4) when mounting the bass traps or absorbers on the wall or corners , is it better to use spacers or just use the glue and stick them on the wall . .

thanks !

1. Roxul will be OK. 4" would be better.

2. Go to Joann Fabric or somewhere similar and you can get Muslin cheap that will work fine.

3. Hang it with a little gap - not a ton needed though.

4. No idea what your bass absorbers are so hard to say.

The bass absorbers are from Auralex . . they are about 2 ft tall and i believe 2" thick . . . 8 of them came with the project 2 kit . . . O ya, they are like 'L' shape so they fit perfect in the corner. Wan't sure to leave some space or just stick them right against the wall . . .

anyway, thanks for the suggestion . .

Stick them against the wall. Just be realistic that they're not going to reach down terribly far into the deep bass. 4" of mineral wool straddling a corner will do a better job.

I totally agree. Not sure how far down 2" of foam can go, but certainly not far enough to warrant the title "bass trap".

2" of decent foam might, maybe do decent down to 250Hz or so.
