festival time is here... DJs and Artist get your *$&@ together

now is the time to have your demo package together if you want to get on spring, summer, and end of school year shows and festivals.

my artist Ras Lidj is doing promos during the mix show on WKYS in DC on sunday night in an effort to drum up some buzz going into the festival season.

I'd like to have a 5 song EP ready, and we're one song short, but we look like we'll be on time this year, because a three song demo is all you really need.

we were late last year because of some legal issues and it cost us some bookings.

we were on time the year before and things were looking bright.

I've been working on my projects since the summer and the shit is still like a nice wake up call to me. I need to be getting me some promo shit out right about now.

Funny how this shit always plays... Artists won't/don't realize they need to do some shit until it's time to have it done. Then it's to really too late... When you drop and don't already have some buzz then it's just that much harder to reach new people. Shits mostly up on the producers (or HNIC) to have things done so cats can be ready for the season changes.

Haha... I''m seeing the the concept car shows (on tv now) and shit like NAMM... Kinda like everybody gearing up for the year to show some ass this year. Guess the rap game is no different. .

nope no different.

in the last 2 weeks, Lidj has been going to the shows of local bands and jumping on the mic and freestylin' just to make sure people remember his name and face.

the 'interview' on WKYS went well tonight, but i'll be glad when we can get enough going for us that we can get spins during the week instead of sunday night.

at the same time he was at the station, i was buried in the studio comping vocals.

the first time i hear one of my tracks played during 'drive time' i'll probably bust one.

Thats a tough place to make it. theres a lot of talent but like a curse on d.c. md. and northern Va.Its cool ras does the reggae thing as well that helps alot. cuz go-go dont get the respect it deserves. I read at your sight he went down south and got a good response. I always thought Atlanta would be a good place for go-go bands to try to get a good start outside the d.c area because they love the crowd participation look at lil Jon and the Eastside boys and all they do is chant. go-go invented that crunk shit think back to j.y.b. and ruff it off. A lot of people owe go-go
