I have a problem and need help with this power mixer. A worker at our non profit group said that the lavalier microphones didn't work and that the hand held microphones worked. I elected to test out the mixer. What I found and I rated the 6 channel controls is that they all worked however some were performing less than expected where as three were very good. I found that the 6 panel (1-6) was best and used those channel controls as the starting point. I adjusted all the controls to match panel 6.
To increase the volume (mixer connected to external speakers) I used the channel level control. However when I attempted to increase the volume I would get (moving from bottom left notching up two lines) heavy distortion out of the speakers. If I brought the volume up a couple notches I would get useable audio. Why I write this and please excuse my inexperience - is that I spent a couple hours slowly testing out (after studying the owners manual) all the controls - and it was at the Main Master that I learned that one can balance the volume between any panel level control and then adjust the Main Master.
What I found out was that I am unable to notch up the Main Master whatever I do with any other control knobs. Coming up from left (no audio) I can advance to lines - and then from the speakers an incredible screech. It is impossible to advance Main Control up to high noon.
What I attempted to achieve was deliver a good audio signal from microphone to the speakers. What I found out is that if one is holding the lavalier at the mouth then keeping the levels bottom left works. However if I use the lavalier or the hand held a distance of inches away from the mouth the audio from the speakers is faint. If I could increase the volume which I cannot do - than it would be possible to have a normal event meeting where the guest speaker could be heard.
I turn on/ off the power in my testing. I used battery powered mic and mics without batteries.
I hope what is stated is clear enough to solicit a helpful comment. I am at a loss. Worst case I could take the mixer in for repair. But I need experienced expert opinions. It may be that I am totally inept and am missing the most obvious use of the mixer.
Thanks
