I have a 1990 Fender JP-90 Jazz Bass, with jazz neck. When I got the guitar this past August it had been set up in California and it was fine, but now that it's winter here in Connecticut I'm experiencing a tiny bit of buzzing and I need to tweak the neck.

I don't have qualms about intonating it, but I'm kinda curious to read what amount of clearance and relief that some of you guys go for on your bass.

I can't give you measurements, but I lower the bridge saddles enough to be comfortable, but not so much that the strings buzz.

Make it comfortable and fun to play.

You may just want to send it to me to dial in for you. :D

Fret the first fret, and then fret up about the 15-16th fret. There should be about a business cards worth of space - maybe a bit more - between the bottom of the string and the top of the fret in the middle of the neck. It is entirely likely, however, that just adjusting the truss rod will not fix your problem. You will likely have to raise the action a bit.
