Slowing becoming un-noob.
I personally love the look. Anyone know anything of them?
I would love to get my hands on one, they're just too expensive.

Anyone know of any site where I could get a replica of a fender jazzmaster/jaguar. They are so expensive, and I love the look. So anyone know of a maker that makes a replica of them?

Thanks.

I really hate asking stuff like this, seeing as I already asked for something like this before. I just don't know how to search for these things. (replica guitars)

i'm building a custom jazzmaster. it should be about 1000 when all is said and done. maybe a little more. but its all american and its exactly how i want it.

I dream about the Jazzmaster since I first saw one in Leeds (England) in the sixties.

The Fender J Mascis Jazzmaster is $839.99 at most online retailers like Musician's friend. Some others are $899.99. Its a real one, and new. You will not find a deal like that anywhere.

However, if you insist on a replica, I am making one also. Probably also around $1000 when done. Some preliminary details

WD Flame Maple neck
Sperzel Locking Tuners
Guitar Mill Silver Sparkle nitrocellulose body (With light checking)
Fender AVRI Pickups
CTS 1 Meg Master Vol/tone Pots
Angela Instruments Paper in Oil Tone Capacitor
Switchcraft output jack
Allparts Pickguard
Fender Japan Tremolo, Upper Bout Vol/Tone Pots and slider switch

Sorry to tell you, but you wasted your money on that one. There is not a person on the planet who will be able to hear the difference, and I'm betting there isn't a machine on the planet that could measure the difference, either.

Maybe its placebo effect then. Anyways, it looks cool. I'll just go with Orange Drops from now on.

Which, though much cheaper, may even be an even bigger waste of money, as many of them as I've seen that were bad straight from the factory.

Ceramic caps are all you need. I know all the internet weenies bad mouth them, but they are fine, and they cost next to nothing.

So just regular radio shack specials should do??

Yup. I mean, it's not even in the signal path, it's in parallel to ground. You need to have them, and I actually use a high quality cap simply because they are less likely to be bad out of the box, and less likely to fail in the long run (I use a Panasonic cap), but any cap of appropriate value is just fine.

My brother had a jazzmaster back in the early 70's. I used it in the studio a few times thru a SE Valco (Supro?). The thing sounded awesome. I wish I knew what happened to it.

I love jazzmasters, mostly because Robert Smith plays one.

yeah ...i got the olympic av and playing one of those thro a roland chorus is like an education in robert smithdom.....

but be prepared for the vintage curvature of the neck profile..... if you get the strings real low then you cant really bend....sort of leads you into new wave land .

ive got an av jag somewhere ...totally different animal because its a shorter neck ...the pickups went nuts on me.....took it apart to fix but lord only knows whats going on with the electrics of that one.

ongoing project.....

Keep me informed. The Olympic's a beautiful finish. I think I'll add one of these to the list - I do like my Cure.

You should talk to Kurt at Rondo music. They make designer inspired guitars, some of which, are quite nice.

also worth checking out the japanese fender output.....they do all the funky colours and blocks and binding that fender usa stay away from.....tradditionally they have been a lot cheaper that the usa but with the state of the dollar im not sure if that holds anymore....also fender have been stopping the sale of japanese to other parts of the globe....so it might be hard but the japanese ar crazy about surf music and the jag and jazz!!!

Check out the http://www.shortscale.org forum.

If your interested in putting together your own guitar, talk to Robert(original). He makes kickass bodies and even necks sometimes. Good prices.
