Anyone tried the Fender Cyber Twin modeling amp yet? Saw/Heard it yesterday and liked it (but price --- Whoa). Cool watching the knobs turn by themselves. Comparisons with Line 6 modeling amp?

OK I screwed up and didn't do a search first. Found several threads on the Cyber Twin. So anyhow, you guys that bought it - how do you like it after owning one for a while?

This month's EQ mag has a great write-up on it.

Seems there are some key features missing - the ones they pointed out would have steered me clear of it!

Guitar Player mag gave it good points on classic Fender tones but stated it lacked in the massive distortions (mesa & marshall).

BTW, I don't really take their reviews seriously anymore. There's no real criticism & everything is just "great"!

I've had my C-T since Feb. I'm still extremely happy with it. Your right about the "massive distortions", the tone is there but the crunch isn't. So I put a S.D. Lil 59'er in my strat and now it has nice crunch on the "heavier" presets. I'm mainly a blues/rock player so the amp is perfect for me, though when I want to shread (with the help of the lil 59'er) I can now do so with the C-T. If you would like to hear a recording I made with the C-T (it's not a heavy metal distortion one) download my latest mp3.

Check out what other C-T players are saying at the FDP, user presets are also posted there too.

Bruce, what did the mag say that is keeping you away from a C-T? You seem like the type of guy who could really use a C-T in the studio! You should at least write down some of the presets at the FDP then dial them into your nearest C-T to demo.

I have owned a cyber twin for a while, and the clarity is second to none. My problem is that the distortions are just too weak. It is the only thing the amp lacks. I had to go through the user presets, and equalize the volumes to use live, and there is a delay (annoying) in between switching sounds live.

It records so sweet though, and as far as 7/8 of my tones they are so clean compared to stomp boxes or other amps. When side by side with a line 6, the sweet tone of the amp is very noticable, but the line 6 has better metal sounds.

It's also not a modeling amp in the usual sense of the term.

Lots of threads about this on the FDP, I'm sure.

Anybody else hooked a cyber twin to a Behringer FCB 1010? I have the basic funtions working enough for it to switch presets ect, but I wonder if anybody might have had luck getting the tuner and the 2nd pedal to work?

I use the CT. I own a HR DeVille, the CT belongs to my bass player, but I use it all the time.

I love the amp but only use 2 of the presets.

I like the 59 Bassman setting for great clean and I use a tape echo preset for a couple of the songs we do.

I run my guitar through a Garnet Herzog and then into the CT.

It's fun having all the bells and whistles and motorized knobs but the smart $$ will just buy a great clean/loud amp and add a high quality footpedal.

If you got the cash, spend it.

Dave

I use that 59 bassman with tape echo as well. I really do get nice sounds out of this amp, and they are much cleaner than other amps I have used in the past. There just isn't enough overdrive for me. I plan on running something that gives me that nice thick distortion through the effects loop so I can create a pre-set with that kind of killer drive.
