Greetings,

I have a Fender Cyber-Deluxe amp and have had no luck getting Cakewalk to communicate with the amp. I have the midi cable hooked correctly to the pc, however I am not sure about the amp. (in to in or in to out) I need a step by step on how to get this working. Is there anywhere on the web I can find such a tutorial?

Thank you in advance for any help,

Mike

What exactly are you trying to do with this?

The midi jacks on the Cyber-Deluxe are there for controlling the amp with a midi footswitch no? There won't be any audio traveling in either direction through it, and I'm sure that the amp can't play a midi track, it's not a synth, I'm also pretty sure that the amp isn't going to turn the guitar signal into a midi controller source that can be used to "play" a software synth or write a midi track.

I'm not familiar with the device you are using, but if you are trying to record midi the connections should be "midi out" on the device and "midi in" on the soundcard.

Strryder is correct. The MIDI ins/outs on the amp is just for controlling it with a foot controller (or a sequenser, if you will). Nothing more.

So if you wanted to use the computer to send it program changes (instead of the footswitch), you would plug a MIDI cable from your computer's MIDI Interface MIDI Out to the Cyber Deluxe's MIDI In.

You might need to know what port to set your MIDI Out channel to (in case the amp is only listening to a single channel), and you will need to know the program change numbers to send to it -- the numbers that identify the particular sounds you want to get.
