Fender amp hum

Recording Modus Operandi
I have a fender tube amp called 'The Twin'. It's got a fabulous sound when you crank the channel gain for distortion but it comes with a hum(the cost). It's not unusual for Fender amps and there is nothing wrong with the amp, it's not a loud hum, just there. What I was wondering is what is the best way to deal with it for recording. I am new to recording and will appreciate any advice.

Thanking you in Advance,

You could use a noise gate, but honestly, I *love* hearing that hum. It gives the sound a very authentic quality, and if you're cranking the gain enough it should only be a "problem" during breaks, and a noise gate or manual editing can remove the hum.

I'm sure others will have good suggestions, but I just wanted to chime in....sometimes problems don't have to be problems at all! :)

yeah, id say a gate...or if you are recording to PC, editing out the parts where you arent playing is a cinch......

I have a fender tube blues deville 4x12 that hums as well, but I'll be damned if I can hear it while I'm shredding. I agree with slack I love that hum. When I record with it I'll put it in another room and play around with two mics one at the amp and a condencer for ambient sounds.

Got single coils?:D

If you do and your standing anywhere near your computer monitor when you record this is more than likeky the problem. Try turning your monitor off when you record. Or get some EMG's.

PS: my Super Reverb doesn't have a bit of hum even at full volume. It is properly biased though.:)
