Really cool lyrics, guitar sounds really nice...nylon string? I like the "round" tone.....I enjoyed this one, think it sounds great in its current state....

I like it. Very nice sound. Good vocals. I could see Richie Havens singing this song. Tell us about the production, instruments, mics, hardware, etc. (if you have time).

Thanks much, Queepy

I'm glad you like the tune. Thanks for the support of its current arrangement.:)

Thanks for the spin and the kind words, Richard,

I used a TASCAM 2488 (24 track digital recorder) to build about nine or ten tracks. I used an APEX 435 condenser mic for the vocals and the classical guitar. I may have also done a direct in with the guitar because it has a transducer in it that I sometimes use. (Dean Markey)

The drums were done with the drum player patterns built into the 2488.

The instruments were direct in to the 2488 from a Roland XP-30 synth. in stereo whenever possible. Some patches are stereo so in that case I designate two tracks for the R and L output of the synth. (All audio, no midi)
Patches were probably vivace strings, arco strings, contrabass or 2cbs, stereo cello and rich strings. I usually use them. No horns that I can think of.

The guitar is a Fender FG 100 nylon string classical.

I did all the vocals by double tracking my own voice.

...I am about to rework some of them, but I may leave this one as is.
I like this a lot. It has a good balance and strong musical character as it is.:)

The guitar could have more articulation/definition. Dunno what processing it's going through but that's the only thing I'd change if I were tweaking it.

I like the way the classical guitar and strings work with the vocals and support the story. Arrangement is well done.

If I were to nitpick, which would be a stretch to do, I'm not crazy about the drum patch. I understand the percussion in this song is only for embellishment, but it is a little thin sounding. I also understand that you have to make due with what you've got. I use my synth for the oddball percussion sound and usually come away disappointed.

Very nice song!!
:)

Cheers,
