My friend just bought a BOSS Metal Zone pedal and we're playing, but when he turns on the pedal to kick on the distortion we get all sorts of horrible feedback. We used to get feedback but now with this pedal it's horrible. We are using a cheap Squier amp and am not sure if that's the cause. My friend has a Peavey Rage at home but it's too heavy to carry over all the time. Can someone help me like out like ASAP with why that's happening. Thanks.

If you are using a single coil guitar.....with the gain on the pedal up most of the way, that would do it.

You said you were getting a little feedback before. Well the metal zone is going to increase that by it very nature.

Try to set a clean, crisp sound sound at the amp, then add the metal zone. Tweak the controls until you get a good sound (it's easy with the 3 band EQ). Mind you with a cheap guitar and amp there's only so much you can do. If you up the gain too much it may feedback regardless.

Well it's not the greatest guitar but it's a Peavey Raptor. The amp is shit nonetheless. I'll muck around with the settings next time, like, the Peavey has one humbucker and 2 single coils. For a while he used my original guitarist's Fender Strat w/ all single coils and I never had a feedback problem.

*Sigh* well for now I guess he'll just have to remember to keep his hands on the fretboard or turn off dist. while we decide what song to do next. Thanks guys.

A lot of guitars have certain amount of that type of feedback. Thats because the guitar is no longer gound. Try plugging the amp into an outlet with the 3 prong...no adaptors.

my advice...throw away the metal zone. i have a friend who buys all the used metal zone pedals he comes across just so no one else can use them.
