Yo,
I got 3 of my beats that I just wanted you to hear and give me feedback to. I use minimum samples and play most of the instruments that you hear. Basically I wanna know what I can do compression and equalization wise, and whatever else you feel is necessary. Peace.

Beat 1

Beat 2

Beat 3

Beat 1:
Some ugly distorting (perhaps some heavy stretching going on?) during the start of beat 1, I'm quessing it's from the sample, but you shoud try to clean them up a bit.
This is good stuff though. Melodic and sort of serious type of beat. I like the chopping you've done here. The way the notes are pushed up at around 02:36 hit me like a B-2 bomber...it's a good idea, but i think the transition was a bit brutal. Might be just my taste though...

beat 2:
Niiiice...Clever use of the "glided guitars", nice panning on them. They sort of create a chill vibe in the back, also the subtle guitar plucking is pretty great. You might want to elaborate a bit more where the chorus eventually will be, but then again it might sound just great when you get some rhymes on top of them...some beats do...

beat 3:
Sweet start, sort of spanish style...but around 00:25 you killed my ears man...it gets horrible. Sorry for the mean language, but you're way of when it comes to compatible notes on that one.

I won't comment on the mastering here cause I've been rehearsing my students earlier so my ears has taken a beating for the day and probably won't be accurate enough to tell me the truth about the sound.

You got a good thing going on here so keep up the good work.

what kind of equipment do you use? Don't worry, you don't need to have the latest, greatest, biggest, most expensive stuff to be respected...

Obviously I didn't read the whole post you wrote...

I wouldn't recommend to much compression, cause it might ruin the accustic feel to it. I would suggest to EQ the tracks perhaps, to separate the two different guitars from each other (beat 1). Not much, just a tid bit.
It's not like they're clashing at the moment, but I think it could benefit from some eq sculpting. Have you used a fabricated loop for the beat on "beat 2"?
you might want to get the high end of that drumtrack amped a bit.
To make the most of the track (allthough all the wise men fight over this) you can benenfit a lot from compressing each and every perc (percussive elem.) in the drumtrack as well, to bring out the body of the sound, not just the initial attack of the perc. This goes for pretty much all the instruments imo cause alot of the music can and will get lost when all the levels are going hawire over one and other. Compressing is like taking control over a bull, what use is the bull for plowing acres if it runs out of the field?

1. Sample really needs to be cleaned up. The distortion pretty much ruined it for me

2.Really nice. Really feeling the drum sounds & programing.

3.Not bad has a dark old school feel to it. The lyrics could make or break this one.

Overall nice work. Try to take a moment to critique some of the other posted tracks Pheonix,chalin27, stay411 etc...

Quality. Smooth sounds and interesting progressions. Keep up the good work!

Peeped the second one, actually had the shit on loop for a minute.

I’m liking this a lot, tastefully done. Lovin that wah sounding synth in the hook.
