I'm sorry, but that's pretty terrible sounding. What are you monitoring through that makes you think this sounds okay? The guitars are all a mash of mud and fuzz. I thought my monitors blew out. Is that a real snare clanking away? I don't mean to be harsh, but come on dude. You limited it to max loudness, but left it sounding like this?

headphones... but I never said the "mix" was good, or okay. So, I guess foremost we need to re-do the guitar with less distortion? I like the sound of the snare, but maybe that is just me.

As it sits right now, it should need more mixing.
Im not listening on monitors but laptop speakers at the moment so keep that in mind.
Everthing is mushed together too much, everything is fighting each other etc.
Try getting different tones out of the guitars when tracking, so each one has its own sound, that will help in mixing.
Cut some eqs on one guitar, or pan it harder. At this point, get everything to untangle. Start panning things to the side.
Vox and kick and bass can stay in the middle. Everything else can be panned off to the sides.
Try one guitar left, one right. Not hard, maybe halfway. Then start messing around with EQ, theyre pretty fuzzy.
Dont get discouraged by other people, just ask lots of questions and we'll try to help.

I think maybe the mega-compression you've got across the mix is the first problem with it sounding bad. Post up this version but without the limiter and maybe we can pick it apart better. Get a good mix first and then you can squash it for loudness.

Ditto on that, dont touch that limiter until your done with the song (including vocals) and cant get it to sound any better without going insane.
And even then, dont touch it too much:D

i think its cool for a 'low fi' style recording (check out the black keys). maybe less distortion might be a good idea but the way it is gives a different, cool character. kinda like 'cherub rock' from the smashing pupmkins.

It's hard to be sure, but my guess the original sound of the guitars is not too distorted, but the clippy distortion came later as a result of pegging one or more of the components in the signal chain.

Yes. That's way too much distortion for pop punk. It would be fine for a lo-fi punk-punk.

Also, get a singer who shows up on recording day. :D
