I am running a win2k computer with a Dman PCI soundcard (1in/1out) with a mackie 1202 mixer and some FX mods/keyboards. Using Sonar I am trying to send a dry signal from the output of the computer though to the mixer...i am then using the aux1 on the mixer to send it to the FX module...the sound then gets routed back to the mixer...then back to the input of computer.

my problem (and a classic one i'm sure) is that the computer is automatically sending the input (which i'm trying to record) back to the output creating a feedback loop...i can't find a way to stop the signal at the input...no matter what...even if the output on the track i'm trying to record is set to none.

Is this a soundcard problem or a computer problem?

any help would make my month!!!!

regards, cory

look at your windows mixer or the sound card mixer and see if you can mute or turn down the line in. This should (with any luck) make it so that signal still passes though with out being routed to the output for monitoring.

Good Luck

PS I am assuming you still have signal too your software?

By the way, You may want to try recording your effects totaly wet (effect only) to the seperate track then you can adjust your mix later between the two tracks and you are not stuck. You might have to slide your effects track back just tiny tiny bit to account for processing time with your FX unit if you do it this way. It could cause you phase problems, I doubt it though.
