Hi Folks

Did some recording ata studio some time back and had the session backed up to DVD-RAM.

I'm trying to convert the data into WAV format so I can re-mix it using Logic. I know there's a converter program for this taking data off a hard drive or SCSI but have come up againts a brick wall.

Can anyone help or suggest a remedy.

Thanks

Thanks JR but do you know if it'll work with a DVD-Ram drive? I've not had any success...although my computer skills might be the issue!

I've never used it. I've got a couple of ADAT i/o cards and just go to the pc that way. But since you're short a playback device...

What machine was it recorded on? If you're only talking 8 tracks, you could probably round up and older FD-08 for cheap and playback through that via adat i/o.

Is your DVD drive in your pc DVD-RAM compatible?

7-8 years ago, we used to archive a lot of stuff to DVD-RAM. We're hosed now since both of our drives gave up the ghost. Ours used the enclosure type discs.

Thanks..appreciate your feedback.

It was recorded on a Fostex D2424LV and backed up on DVD-Ram. I have a DVD-Ram drive in my PC. Also have a Mac G4 which I use for recording at home.

The discs are type II so I can take them out of the cassette.

Asked the engineer to save them as WAV files at the time but he didn't know how to do it.

What concerns me is that when I put the discs in the drive it says the disc needs formatting...perhaps that's to do with the Fostex format more than enything else.

It is most definitely a format issue. You are basically being told that your computer is seeing an unformatted disc ie: no data present on the disc that it can recognize. Wish I could offer more help. Sorry.
