Can anyone give me the basic process (and equipment) needed to go from a recording on a Fostex FD-8 to finally burning a CD?

an fd-8 and a philips stand-alone cd-r. (the cost about $489 now at places like circut city and best buy.) hook up the optical in on the cd-r to the optical out on the fd-8 and you now have your music on cd.

I went this route with a Vestax HDR-6 and a Philips Standalone CD Recorder - A Few hints - The recorders vary in price from place to place - I got mine at Sam's Club for only $299. Secondly I shopped for the special media that these players take - The best buy is at CDR Express for about $1.40 each if you buy 50. I also found out that you can make a master on the Philips and copy through computer to another CDR, the cost of CDRs for computer is much cheaper, in fact I got them from Clifford Technology for about $.60 each for 100. Add a CD Stomper to your collection and you will have great looking media. Always check pricewatch.com for the best deals on everything for computer - the prices may surprise you. Good luck.

thanks for the replies--makes sense

is the philips stand-alone cd-r necessary because I have an FD-8 or for simplicity? would it be cheaper or better to use my computer for this process?

thanks

hey baines, i'm about to buy the FD-8. how do you like it? what media are you recording to? is the internal IDE drive just a regular one?

well--i can't answer--i don't have one yet! i'm about to buy one as well--and i just wanted to make sure it could do the basics--warm sound, straightforward to use, and flexible--from reading through this (superb) site of posts--it seems to have all of those qualities--sorry if this doesn't help much
www.fostex.com is a good place to go for specifics
