Need to know a few things about the inserts on fd-8. I want to use a little compression over the entire mix, so my question is this: If I use the optical out on the FD-8 to mix to standalone CD-R and I insert my compressor to channels 7 & 8 by using the channel inserts will this be able to give me compression over the entire mix? or do I have to use the analog outs and place the compressor in between the FD-8 and CD-R? I want to keep the mix digital, is it possible to do this or do I have to compress everything as recording and not be able to add compression to the digital mix. Hope this makes sense.
Thanks,
Bruce

To use the inserts on the entire mix, you'll have to mix down to tracks 7 & 8.

So help me out on mixing down to 7 & 8 while the compressor is inserted.
Your help is appreciated.
Thanks,
Bruce

Are you using 8 play back tracks? If so, you'll need to bounce some tracks so that you're left with 6 play back tracks and 2 empty tracks.

Then set channels 7 & 8 to input panned L-R and arm tracks 7 & 8. Set channels 1-6 to trk and adjust the faders, pan, and eq to taste. Press record and you'll be recording tracks 1-6 on tracks 7 & 8. Then you can insert your comps on tracks 7 & 8 to compress the entire mix to your CD burner.
