FD-4 and effects

I like to hear reverb while I'm singing and recording vocal tracks but I don't want the reverb to record to the track.I just want the vocals recorded 'dry'.I have my reverb effects running through effect 1 send/receive and the effects are being recorded.I used to do this the same way on my cassette multi and it worked the way I wanted. Am I doing something wrong. Is there a way to hear reverb doing recording but not having the reverb record to the track?

return the reverb through a channel instead of the fx return. that way you can monitor that channel and not send it through the recording bus.
