Flailing up a storm.
I have decided i really like the sound of P90s and I am going to start looking at something with them as my next guitar purchase.
I have wanted an SG for a while as well, so i am sort of leaning toward the SG classic, but i donl;t know how they are considered as far as quality of build goes.
I like the look of jazzmasters too, but seems like the only non vintage option is a made in Japan guitar?

Generally looking for everyone fav's here please jump in with your thoughts.

1974 - Les Paul Special reissue....
If I ever get enough spare cash (lol) and one of these shows up on eBay I'll probably pick it up....

I definately am a fan of the SG Classic. Ive had 3 of them. The only thing I dislike has been the big baseball bat neck on them. If you like a slimmer neck, check out the LP Jr Doublecut, or to save $$ the faded version of that. I had a yellow one and really dug that guitar, too.

No shame there. Cool. My Gf is going to hunt you down and .... Now I have gas. (in heavy deep voice.. MUST HAVE P-90 EQUIPPED GUITAR!) You have capped the deal. Damn, how do I break the news to her.

Ps: she also plays . But also watches the wallet. Some has too, otherwise there would be even less room in my modest Apt.

Wank away.

daav, if you're more inclined toward the SG Classic, you should go for it. I've tried one, and I'm wishing I had one, to lay down some rhythms behind my Les Paul Faded Double Cut, while the LP FDC will work quite nicely for rhythms behind my Epiphone Les Paul Jr. 90. As for which P90 equipped guitar is my favorite, my opinion is somewhat prejudiced in owning two examples, but I can readily say - Gibson Les Paul Faded Double Cut, Gibson Les Paul Jr., Gibson SG Classic, Epiphone Les Paul Jr. 90.

I have a Godin LP SP-90. These are very good guits for < $500.

1982 Gibson Les Paul Special and an old set of Lindy Fralin cream P-90s.

Try and find you an old Gibson Melody Maker, my uncle had one and his bitch of a "wife" sold it off as soon as he was in the ground when he died of brain cancer... I wish I would have been able to lay my hands on it! I've played around on one of the SGs loaded with them, and a LP faded... Neither one, IMO, came anywhere close to the sound of that old Melody Maker... YMMV

80's Gibby Blueshawk, very kitchy and sweet if you ignore that weird sweeper on it..

LP Junior. In the beautiful TV finish with black covers on the 90's

Great feedback folks.
Went and played an Epi gold top '57 reissue with P-90s yesterday to whet my apetite, sounded fantastic.

Must save money, must save money.

As long as it has P-90's it should work!

Check out some Reverend guitars; some of the models are available with P-90's.

The Dean Palomino looks like it might be a nice guitar to play with, it's got 3 P-90's. east wood has a semi-hollow with 3 p-90's too as well as a lot of other P-90 solid bodies.

Two I own and really like are the PRS SE soapbar II double cut away and I just picked up a Beautiful Gold Top Washburn WI-66 Idol Pro.

The PRS has a nice fat, wide neck with low frets that is great for chording and some bendy blues leads, the body really resonates and those pickups just have the best sounding p-90 Ive ever heard. I actually think the whole guitar works together to get its sound, but the pickups are HOT. Its my number one stage guitar, for only $350 it cant be beat. It never goes out of tune.

The washburn is heavier like a les paul, but not as heavy, has a thin neck with high frets that is great for more shreddy leads, and chords nicely. The P-90's sound great, not as good as the PRS, but really nice, and it is a beautiful guitar. Costs only like $700

after checking out the before mentioned gibsons, give these two a try, you wont be disapointed. They are just as nice sounding as a Gibson and 1/2 or more the price.

Good luck

My current P-90 favorite :

What a beautiful guitar! What a butt ugly pickguard. Seriously, looks like it would sing like a bird!
