Whats your favorite cymbal(s)?

My favorite is definately my 21" Dry Heavy Ride... It can be loud as fuck, but I can also use it as a bright and soft ride, to calm myself down.

That's a little like asking me to pick my favorite kid.

Lessee...favorite...probably an old Paiste 505 18" crash. I had it about 17 years ago. It was my least used crash at the time 'cause I had 2002s for the rest of the kit. Some nut came up to me at a performance and told me it was the best sounding cymbal I had. I thought he was high. It didn't sound too cool behind the kit. Then I let a friend sit in for a couple songs and I listened while talking to some chick. I stopped listening to her breasts because I heard that crash. It was magical (God those things were huge)!! I could wait for him to hit it again and again. I let him keep playing for a while so I could compare it to the other crashes (shoulda got her number) and they were pale in comparison.

I sold it and my other cymbals years ago without thinking and missed it later. I sat like a vulture on eBay this year and finally scored TWO of 'em. Best thing I ever did. I still miss the original, but these are close enough.

My favorite is a 20" Paiste Sound Formula Full Crash. They discontinued the Sound Formula line around 2000 because nobody was buying them. They were made from the Signature metal, but have a different type of hammering than the Signature Series.

It's just got this Bonham-ish sound that I love.

I know where there are two more of them and I'm as soon as I have the money saved I'm going to snag them and replace two of my 2002's with them.
:D

I kind of like having a "redundant" set up where I have more then one of the same type of cymbal. I tend to use a lot more cymbals than toms since the cymbals as accents don't "break" the beat.

Currently, I really like my 17" K Zildjian MT Dark Crash.

My buddy has a few of those Constantinople K's that I really like, but they're just too damn expensive.

I kinda have been looking at getting a 18" K Dark Crash, but I don't have the money at this point.

I have a 24" Zildian ride that is about 30-40 years old. Great tone, great definition and the sustain lasts forever without building a wash.

It's taken me years to build a collection of cymbals that really compliment eachother.

My personal favorite cymbal of all time is a K Custom Dark 22" ride - the cymbal is beautiful just to look at, it's truly a work of art. I LOVE the way it sounds and the ay it feels. There are SO many different tones you can coax out of it. TONS of tone! Works on everything form jazz to hard rock. Cheers, Rez

To take it a completely different direction, my favorite is my 12" A Custom splash :D . It's freaking loud, kind of like a mini-crash, but with the sharpness and decay of a regular splash. :

My favorite is my Ride (as i mentioned above)... but the best cymbal I have ever heard? Danny Carey's 24" 2002 China.

I can't really decide on just one so I'll say my two favorite cymbals are my 15" K Dark Thin crash, and my 20" K Custom Ride. The bell on the K Custom Ride is so beautiful. I like to stick to the smaller crashes cause they have that nice splashy sound.

Right now it is a 21" A.Zildjian Sweet Ride.
25 years ago it was something else, and I was too ignorant to pay attention.
I miss that cymbal..........

I'm pretty fond of my Rancan china crash. I've had it for almost 15 years, and it still sounds awesome.

I like my 15" A Custom.....whatever the volume, whatever the style of playing it respondes and fits in perfectly :D

my favorite cymbal is the hi hat.............................................sorry :(

hey man that's pretty tuff to say. but i like the A or A custom 20 inch ping rides those are some of the best pair of cymbals i've heard

Just got myself 16" and 18" Istanbul Traditional Dark Crashes. The 18" is probably the best crash i've ever played. Beautiful. Got an Istanbul 18" Heavy crash on the way too.

OK, NOW I KNOW HOW YOU FEEL!!! I used to keep my Paiste 2000 20" Power Crash on the side... using my 17" power crash and 18" full crash as my main crashes (like in danny carey's set, xept he uses an 18" power crash). But today while watching the music video for "Judith" by A Perfect Circle, I noticed the drummer, Josh Freese, had a bug crash enar him, and i thought that looked cool. And thats when I noticed how FREAKING AWESOME IT SOUNDS!!!! I also put my ride to the side... now its closer to me, so I don't have to reach my arm out. Conclusion: My new favorite cymbal is my 2000 20" Power Crash.

i have a couple:
21" Paiste Signature dry heavy ride
18" Paiste Signature Power Crash
19" Paiste Signature Full Crash( it is coming!)
