Fatman 2

Im planning on starting my home studio in the next few mounths, maily for experimenting with, recording demos and eventualy building on for something slightly more professional. Im looking a getting a Fatman 2 as my first preamp because it appears to suit my neeads, and also ill get a tube compressor in the same box. Ive heard good things about the Fatman but nothing as of yet on the Fatman 2. Can anyone using it tell me what they think of it.

I've got one and I like it very much for certain applications but not for everything (I hate it on vocals, too dark). I wouldn't want it for my only mic pre.

Well after about six mounths with my beggining set up im plaaining on splashing out again and getting among other things a DBX 386 preamp. Anyone got any comments on this or suggestions on anything they think is better in the same price range?
