fatar tp-40 return sound, velocity sensitivity

Good day!

In advance, i beg my pardon for verbosity, but i simply didn't manage to cram the information below in fewer words.

Also, sorry if i overlooked something relevant in other threads and is going to pester you asking questions that have been discussed already.

I've seen quite a few threads here discussing various problems and quirks pertaining to different Fatar keyboards, and though most of them concern the inherently unstable TP10 family, i decided i could get some advice too. So here comes my problem. I've recently got a used Kurzweil sp2x and after pounding on it for some time noticed a couple of annoyances whose origins i'd like to identify.

First of all, the action, especially that of the white keys doesn't feel smooth: it's as though some lubricant -- as silly as it sounds, given that there's no lubricated parts inside -- were missing somewhere.

Key return sound is anything but pleasant -- there's obvious thumping sound accompanying the return of nearly all the white keys, with some of them also squeaking a bit while both being pressed and returning; only *two* of them return silently. The thumping occurs not when a key hits the upper strip of felt -- somewhere in the middle of the return movement instead.

Now enter the biggest problem -- velocity sensing. When using standard (linear) velocity curve, no matter how hard you hit a key, the best you get is mezzo-forte; it requires to literally smash a key with two hands to produce anything within the 100-127 velocity range; and there's no dreaming of rich dynamics while playing anything polyphonic -- the only way for me to play forte or fortissimo chords is to use the lightest curve available.

If i hook up a cheesy MIDI keyboard with non-weighted action to its input, everything is nice and fine.

So what do you think my options are? As for velocity, i guess the culprit is the rubber contacts, but i'm a bit at a loss as to what to do with the action. A possible advice would be to open it and clean thoroughly for starters, but i'd like to know whether anyone here has had any comparable experience with TP40's.

Thank you!
