Fast Track Ultra vs. ProFire 2626

Upgrading from Fast Track Pro for use on a MacBook Pro running Pro-Tools M-Powered.

ProFire 2626 vs Fast Track Ultra?

I want 4 pres, so the ProFire 610 is not an option, but the 2626's 8 pres is excessive unless the performance is better enough to justify the additional $300.

They theoretically both have the same Octance preamps. I think the difference comes down to USB vs Firewire, yes? 4 simultaneous tracks through USB 2.0 should fine, right?
 
If you have the option of going either USB or firewire I suggest you go with firewire. I can't speak for everyone here, but I kick myself every day for not going firewire.
 
Ive never used the fast track, but I have 2 Profire 2626's and I love them! Pres sound pretty decent on their own for some signals.
