thinking of getting a keyboard and so far these are the two I have decided on.
can anyone tell me the pros and cons of each of these? mainly used for hiphop rnb.

any help is appreciated thanks!!

Last night

I went and heard a band at a large club and the keyboardist had a Fantom X7 and a Korg Triton. Both sounded awful. The piano and rhodes sounds from the Fantom were hideous, and the Triton attempting to sound like any organ, be it a B3, or a Farfisa, just could not pull it off.

'Never heard of a Tryos, but it cannot be worse.

A Tyros is a high-end keyboard for the home and arranger crowd.

Perhaps you heard a shitty musician. Both of these in the right hands could be on stage with any keyboardist in the world.

I agree with DavidK, I believe that's what happens when a musician uses a keyboard out of the box using only the stock sounds provided...hehehe, I always chuckle at those guys toooo lazy to tweek their sounds and then bitch about how sorry their keyboard is. Get the Fantom X7, hell Tritons are going a little cheap now since the Oasis and the new M3 coming out, get one of them. :)

Either tweaking or finding the appropriate sound for the occasion. Even entry level keys have 10 piano sounds and 10 organ sounds to choose a suitable one from.Another variable is the amp: A $1500 keyboard played through a $25 bass amp is going to sound like $25. :D

mainly used for hiphop rnb.

You might consider an AKAI MPC or Korg Electribe. They might be more suitable for hiphop stuff. link

I didnt want just a sampler thats why I was looking at these especially the fantom as this has a built in sampler.

Who makes the oasis and M3? would you suggest a Korg Triton over the two keyboards I mentioned, I accually was thinking of going with the X8 I like the weighted keys.

Korg. Oasys is 9 grand. M3 is just coming out, I think it is $2500 or so?

Whatever you get, it might be nice if it has an expansion slot to suit your needs. I do classical, so I would want those extra orchestral sounds, in your case you may want some kind of analog expansion board. The Fantom looks great to me, wish I could afford one. :(

damn 9 grand is too much was thinking more around 4000 at most.
the x8 has an expansion slot... hmm kinda leaning towards this..

SO SO SO Wrong. Triton and Fantom ARE awesome. GRANT, they need to be tweaked A BIT. Ohh, so hard to do.

Since I am the proud owner of a FAntom XR, MOTIF and Triton, I saw go for the Fantom or Triton.
