Hi,
I just wanted to know what you guys think of these two keyboards. Im thinking of purchasing them in the near future. My options are
1. Buy Both
2. Buy one and the module of the other
3. Buy one only

Let me know of your experiences of them. I already own a Roland Super JV1080 exp with session and pop card. Our church is purchasing a Yamaha S90 in january. This is primarily for when I do gigs and live showcases.
So let me know what you guys think.

Thank you for your time.

If you really want to buy both, Buy the Triton Extreme 61, and by the Fantom X Rack (It allows for more expansion slots than the Keyed versions). There is a lot of redundancy here between the 2 machines though. Personally where you already have the JV (same expansion cards as the Fantom), and the Triton has excellent sampling capabilities, I would get the Triton, and then look into something else (You could buy a Novation KS5 on EBAY AND a new Alesis ION for the price of the Fantom, and still have change left over probably for some more expansion cards for the JV). Just examples, but the primary selling points for the Triton, and the Fantom is the Sampling capabilities. And don't be fooled by the whole 1Gb+ statements of Roland, The Korg will do the same (with external drive added).

I am curious why the 61 note versions and not an 88 weighted key version? A Yamaha Motif ES 88 combined with the Roland JV-1080 would compliment each other rather nicely IMHO. The Motif ES 88 coupled with the Roland MR Rack would be even better. :)

hi

to fldrummer I have looked at the motif and i do like those but they are way to heavy to carry round. My friend has a motif 6 and you could literally do weights with it. But then our church is getting a Yamaha S90 next month so there would be no point getting a motif.

to lambo I will hope to get a 88 key weighted midi controller to run the jv and then may be use the a 61 keyboard on top. But im not bothered about getting that yet because I will have the S90. Also I wouldnt double up with two weighted keyboards. But thanks for the suggestions.

to atterion, that sounds like a good idea. I really need to go and check them out again I have played around with the fantom rack and i did like the sounds and the user interface. Im just a big fan of korg roland and yamaha all for different reasons. I like the other brands too like alesis and emu there fab too.

I know what you mean... I have a ES 8

I'm gonna say go with the Fantom X. It has a very nice Acoustic Piano, and it has a great color screen. The synths and pads are great, and the guitars are pretty nice, too.

How road worthy is the X6? I would take the Korg over it if you're going to tour/gig alot but if your not go for the. The piano sounds are great on the roland! Their is some good videos and information rolands website.

I think I like the setup that atterion was talking about and get the module of the fantom which will give me more expansion slots to fill and get the keyboard version of the triton extreme. But I have to say the fantom does look more attractive especially with the mpc style drum pads, skip back sampling and a colour screen.

You could always get those new Akai MPD-16 trigger pads (based on the MPC ones), and merge them with whatever you would use to control the Fantom XR, or even hook 'em up to the Korg.
