Hello,

here is my friends situation as he writes it below

DO you have any solutions? any command key or sequence that will by pass this or interupt it to try to get it to a state where the other data might be recoverable?

Please let me know,
Thanks,
Russ

-----------------------

My Tascam 2488neo crashed after I had been using the CD drive as a playback drive for several hours. I was simply making digital copies in real time by playing from the CD drive of the Tascam 2488neo out thru digital coax cable to a separate stand alone CD burner -- coax in on a Tascam CD-RW 2000.

So after a few hours playing discs on the CD drive of the Tascam 2488 neo, it started having trouble reading the CD0R in that drive. perhaps because of heat and condensation inside....

When I tried to load another CD to compile tracks to a master, it only read 15 of the 30 tracks on the CD.... Even though I wasn't playing a multitrack recording of a song or working on a song on the Tascam 2488neo, it stalled on the song mode before I pushed "menu" and CD play to the CD drive to play a disc.

So suddenly, the machine froze up and said there was an error trying to read that song. The machine started to say it was repairing the error on the song... it was taking a while and before it completed the process, I mistakenly shut down the machine.
(I know... my bad)
Now the Tascam 2488neo does not boot up at all. If I power up, it runs thru the first stage of reading the hard disc, but it freezes up while loading that same song that had the error before (a multitrack recording on one of the HD partitions) It never completely loads the song up. It just says "loading song." I've run it for more than 70 minutes and it never loads the song....

And therefore, I can never get to the menu to change to another song or do any other commands on the Tascam 2488neo.

Does it allow you to follow a proper shut down procedure?

What happes when you hit the shut down button once at some stage before it starts loading the song it's sticking on?

That's about the closest thing I can think of to a "reboot" for it...

Are you a religious person? Prayer may work, otherwise... :)

Good luck!
